Pinuri ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ginawang preparasyon at epektibong pag-responde ng mga lokal na pamahalaan sa nagdaang bagyong Rolly.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, ang ginawang forced evacuation sa mga lugar na natukoy na dadaanan ng bagyong Rolly ang isa sa mga nakikitang dahilan sa mababang  bilang ng mga nasawi.

“Ang paningin ng Presidente, he would like to commend all local government units, all department and agencies of government dahil napakita naman po natin na dahil sa ating kahandaan, nabawasan po natin ang aberya,” pahayag ni Sec. Roque.

“Thank you very much to all the men and women comprising the agencies and instrumentalities of the Philippine government, including the local government units and the public in general,” dagdag pa niya.

Iginiit din ni Roque na patuloy pa rin ang gobyerno sa adhikain nitong “zero casualties in future calamities” bagama’t bigo silang makamit ito sa nagdaang sakuna, napag-alaman nilang epektibo ang isinagawang early at forced evacuation sa mga residenteng nasa high-risk areas na nagsimula noong Oktubre 30 pa lamang.

Laking pasalamat din ni Sec. Roque na hindi kasing lakas ni bagyong Yolanda si Rolly na matatandaang kumitil sa buhay ng 6,340 katao noong 2013. Ayon pa kay Roque, hindi maikukumpara ang bilang ng casualties ni Rolly kay Yolanda sapagkat sa kasalukuyan, sampung katao pa lamang ang nasawi.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Panginoon at hindi po kasing lala ang danyos na ginawa ni Rolly doon sa danyos na ginawa ni Yolanda,” ani Sec. Roque.  

Inabisuhan din ni Sec. Roque ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na makipag-ugnayan sa Office of the Executive Secretary kung kinakailangan ng replenishment ng kanilang calamity fund. Nangako rin siyang makikipag-usap sa mga telecommunication firm upang magkaroon ng komunikasyon ang pamahalaan sa iba pang probinsyang sinalanta ni bagyong Rolly.
