Patay ang labindalawang armadong suspek at isang miyembro ng PNP SAF sa bakbakan sa Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. Tumagal ito ng limang oras na nagsimula nang alas-tres ng madaling araw nitong Enero 23.

Nangyari ang shootout habang hinahain ang arrest warrants dahil sa kasong carnapping, robbery with homicide, double frustrated murder, at iba pang kaso ng mga elemento ng CIDG-BAR, PNP SAF, Regional Intelligence Division ng PRO-BAR, RMFB 14, Sultan Kudarat MPS, at Phil. Marines MBLT2 kay Datu Pendatun Talusan, a.k.a. “Pens”, dating barangay chairman ng Brgy. Limbo, Sultan Kudarat.

May bukod pang search warrant dahil sa paglabag sa illegal possession of firearms and ammunition si Talusan.

Patay si PSSG Elenel Pido habang sugatan naman ang iba pang SAF troopers na sina PCPT Ronillo Daligdig, Jr., PAT Cayl Jun Gonzales, John-Ryan Aquino, at PCPL Gyvard Bando.

Sa mga napatay na tagasunod ni Talusan, nakilala sina Datu Abdullah Talusan, a.k.a. “Datu Bedo”, at Datu Bembi Talusan. Patuloy pa rin ang imbestigasyon sa pagkakakilanlan ng iba pang nasawi.

Nakuha sa barricade ni Talusan ang anim na M16 rifles, isang M14 rifle, isang FN-FAL rifle, isang improvised Barret-type rifle, isang cal.22 rifle, at dalawang cal.45 pistols.
