RED CROSS, NAGSAGAWA NG PILOT TESTING PARA SA SALIVA COVID-19 TEST

Inilunsad nitong Lunes, Enero 11, ng Philippine Red Cross (PRC) ang pilot testing ng saliva test para sa COVID-19, isa sa mga hinihinging requirement ng Department of Health bago ito maaprubahan ng gobyerno.

Ayon kay Dr. Pauline Ubial, pinuno ng molecular laboratory ng PRC, nagsagawa umano sila ng 1,000 saliva tests at aniya, ang paraang ito ay mayroong “95 percent concordance rate” sa RT-PCR test.

“Ibig sabihin ‘pag nag-positive sa swab, positive kayo sa saliva, ‘pag negative sa swab, negative din sa saliva [test],” paliwanag ni Dr. Ubial.

Noong Oktubre pa umano ng nakaraang taon iprinesenta sa DOH ng PRC ang pamamaraang ito subalit ngayong Enero lamang sila nakatanggap ng feedback.

Kaugnay nito, pabor si Senator Richard Gordon na maipatupad ang bagong pamamaraang ito sapagkat aniya, malaking tulong ito sa lumalaking utang ng PhilHealth sa PRC.

“Marami silang dinadahilan. Ito, imbis na P4,000 ang bayad, magiging P2,000 na lang. Baka ibaba pa natin ‘yan kung talagang marami,” ani Sen. Gordon.

Sa huling ulat ni Sen. Gordon, nagbayad muli ng P265,000 ang PhilHealth noong nakaraang linggo at aabot sa P651 milyon pa ang natitirang utang nito sa PRC.
