Iginiit ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na hindi pa umano panahon para ipagsawalang-bahala ang paggamit ng face shields sa pampublikong lugar sapagkat aniya’y hindi pa ganoon karami ang nababakunahan sa bansa.

Naglabas ng pahayag si Sec. Duque matapos imungkahi ni Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso sa gobyerno na itigil na ang pagsusuot ng mga ito sa publiko at aniya’y panahon na para baguhin ang ilang pandemic policies ng bansa.

“Okay [ang] mungkahi ni Mayor Isko kung malaki na ang vaccination coverage natin,” pahayag ni Sec. Duque.

Dagdag pa niya, “Hindi pa pwedeng tanggalin ang face shield policy for now when our two-dose vaccination coverage is a little over 2% due to still inadequate vaccine supply.”

Nilinaw din ni Sec. Duque na ang paggamit ng face shield ay aprubado ng mga eksperto at mayroong scientific basis.

“There are many scientific studies showing that face shields in combination with face masks and more than 1 meter social distancing provide a greater than 95% protection,” paliwanag ni Sec. Duque.

Nitong nakaraang Disyembre lamang ipinatupad ng Inter-Agency Task Force ang mahigpit na pagsunod sa pagsusuot ng face shield sa mga pampublikong lugar. 

Sa kasalukuyan, aabot pa lamang sa mahigit tatlong milyong katao ang nabakunahan sa bansa mula noong Mayo 30.
