Isang task force ang binuo ng CALABARZON police authorities para padaliin ang investigative efforts ng Regional CIDG, Crime Laboratory, Regional Intelligence Division, at Laguna PPO sa pagkamatay ni Los Baños Mayor Cesar Perez, alinsunod na rin sa utos ni PNP Chief PGEN Debold M. Sinas.

Sinabi ni CALABARZON PNP Regional Director PBGEN Felipe Natividad na tinitignan na ang lahat ng surveillance videos ng security cameras na nakalagay sa municipal complex ng Los Baños at katabing mga establisyimento.

Tinitignan na rin ang mga naging lakad ng nasawing mayor ng lugar bago at matapos ang insidente ng pamamaril.

Sa ulat, pabalik na dapat ang mayor sa kaniyang opisina mula sa pagpapamasahe nang barilin ng dalawang beses sa likod ng ulo ng hindi pa nakikilalang suspek sa loob ng munisipyo.

Hindi pa rin tukoy ang may pakana ng krimen at kung saan galing ang mga putok ng baril, bagama’t ayon sa mga nakasaksi ay nanggaling ang mga ito sa malayo.

Namatay ang alkalde na nasa huli na niyang termino sa edad na 65 taon. Buong araw umanong naka-monitor at nakikipagpulong ang alkalde sa mga pinuno ng barangay bago napatay.
