‘TUTOK KAINAN’ INILUNSAD NG PAMAHALAAN KONTRA MALNUTRISYON SA BANSA

Upang mas paigtingin ang kampanya ng pamahalaan laban sa mataas na kaso ng malnutrisyon sa bansa sa gitna ng pandemya, inilunsad ng National Nutrition Council (NNC) nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 23, ang “Tutok Kainan” Supplementation Program. 

Prayoridad ng naturang programa ang pagbibigay ng sapat at wastong pagkain, partikular na sa mga buntis upang masigurong malusog ang kanilang dinadala, lalung-lalo na sa unang 1,000 na araw ng sanggol sa sinapupunan ng ina, kung kailan nabubuo ang pisikal at mental na kapasidad ng bata.

“This is the program that will show to the people, to the Philippines, to the world, that we are very serious in implementing the national food policy, and really making sure that we implement correctly the objectives of the first 1000 days law,” pahayag ni NNC Executive Director Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang.

Ayon sa mga eksperto, kapag hindi nabigyan ng maayos na suplay ng pagkain ang ina at ang sanggol na dinadala nito, maaari itong maging sanhi ng pagkabansot at hindi pagkabuo ng iba pang mga kapasidad ng bata.

“Kasi kung ‘di natin matututukan ang nutrisyon sa first 1,000 days ay huli na ang lahat para sa pisikal at mental development ng bata,” ani Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Zero Hunger Chairperson at Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

Base sa IATF on Zero Hunger, sisimulan na ang naturang programa sa mga piling lugar sa bansa, at palalawakin pa ito sa mga darating na taon upang tuluyan nang mapuksa ang malnutrisyon o pagkagutom sa bansa.
