Dumating na sa bansa ang paunang batch ng Pfizer vaccine mula sa donasyon ng COVAX facility matapos ang ilang buwang aberya.

Dinaluhan ng ilang matataas na opisyal ng pamahalaan ang pagdating ng naturang bakuna sa bansa nitong Lunes ng gabi, Mayo 10.

“These additional Pfizer vaccines will be used on priority groups A1 to A3, who will be receiving the first dose of these vaccines,” pahayag ni Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III. 

Samantala, dahil sa storage requirements ng bakunang gawa ng Pfizer, napagdesisyunan ng pamahalaan na ipamahagi ang mga ito sa Metro Manila, Cebu, at Davao upang masigurong maitatabi nang maayos ang mga naturang bakuna.

Kailangang ilagay ang mga bakuna sa storage na mayroong temperaturang -70 degrees Celsius at ani Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, “We give them sa mga may kapasidad na local government units.” 

Dagdag pa niya, “Ito ‘yung may mga subok na… na ‘yung ultra low freezer nila at handling ay makakaya so hindi tayo magkakaroon ng wastage.” 

Sa kasalukuyan, nakatanggap na ang bansa ng aabot sa 7.5 milyong doses ng vaccine kung saan 2.5 milyong doses ay mula sa AstraZeneca, 5 milyong doses mula sa Sinovac, at 15,000 doses naman mula sa Sputnik V.
