Nakatakdang dumating sa bansa ngayong Linggo ang unang batch ng COVID-19 vaccines mula sa Sinovac Biotech, ayon sa Palasyo.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, inaasahang 600,000 doses ng bakuna ang darating sa bansa sa loob ng tatlong araw.
“Tatlong tulog na lang po, parating na ang bakuna, inaasahang itong darating na Linggo, ang Sinovac. Kaya po excited na tayong lahat,” pahayag ni Sec. Roque.
Kinumpirma rin ito ni Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian at aniya, patuloy ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng dalawang bansa upang mapabilis ang prosesong ito.
“It is a fine tradition between China and the Philippines to help each other in trying times. A friend in need is a friend indeed,” pahayag ni Chinese Ambassador Xilian.
Dagdag pa niya, “The donation of vaccines is another testament to the solidarity as well as profound friendship and partnership between our two peoples and two countries.”
Samantala, sasalubong sa pagdating ng mga bakuna ngayong Linggo ang ilang opisyal ng gobyerno gayundin si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte upang personal na tanggapin ang mga ito.
Kaugnay nito, iginiit ng Palasyo na prayoridad na mabakunahan ang health workers maging anuman ang piliin nilang brand ng bakuna.
Sapat na umano ang 600,000 doses ng bakuna para sa 250,000 health workers at 50,000 na sundalo.
“If they want it, they will still have the priority. If they don’t want it, they will still have the priority kung dumating ‘yung ibang brands,” ani Sec. Roque.
Aabutin umano ng dalawa hanggang tatlo araw matapos dumating ng bakuna sa bansa bago opisyal na magsimula ang vaccine rollout sa bansa, ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr.
