Nasa “advanced” negotiations na umano ang bansa katuwang ang anim na pharmaceutical companies upang makakuha ng bakuna kontra COVID-19 ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr.

“Ang gobyerno po ay may portfolio ng vaccines. Ibig sabihin po nito marami tayong pagkukuhanan ng bakuna sa iba-ibang mga manufacturer,” pahayag ni Sec. Galvez.

Inaasahang aabot sa 148 milyong doses ng bakuna ang makukuha kung maayos na maisasagawa ang negosasyon sa mga vaccine manufacturers na nabanggit.

“We hope to close the deals with these companies this month,” saad ni Sec. Galvez.

Bukod pa sa mga bakunang makukuha sa pamamagitan ng bilateral agreements, makakatanggap din umano ang bansa ng subsidiya sa bakuna para sa 22 milyong katao sa tulong ng Covax Facility.

Layon ng gobyerno na mabakunahan ang humigit kumulang 50 hanggang 70 milyong katao ngayong 2021, kasama na ang mga nasa vaccination priority list.

Subalit nilinaw ni Sec. Galvez na nakadepende pa rin sa global supply ng bakuna ang kapasidad ng bansa na magbakuna sapagkat aniya, nakuha na ng first world countries ang 80 porsyentong suplay ng bakuna sa kasalukuyan.
