Bagama’t isang mapayapang holiday season ang nais ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) para sa lahat ng Pinoy, hindi pa rin nito irerekomenda ang holiday ceasefire pabor sa communist terrorist group (CTG).

Ito’y dulot ng makailang-ulit na pagsira umano ng grupo sa kanilang ceasefire declaration, gaya ng atakihin at pagpapatayin ang mga sundalong nasa humanitarian at peace and development missions.

Sa kabila ng tigil-putukan, patuloy pa rin diumano ang paniniil, pagpatay, at panununog ng mga terorista.

Sinabi rin ng AFP na ang ceasefire ay paraan lang ng CTG para mag-ipon ulit ng mga gamit at kumalap ng mga bagong kasapi.

Bilang patunay, sinabi ng AFP na mismong ang National Democratic Front negotiator na si Luis Jalandoni ang nagdeklarang hindi para sa katahimikan kundi para maipagpatuloy ang pag-aaklas nila laban sa gobyerno ang dahilan ng peace negotiations.

“And with these many hard lessons of the past, we will not allow them to trample upon our people’s bona fide desire for peace—not this holiday season—not until we have decisively defeated this menace to society,” matapang na pahayag ni AFP Spokesperson MGEN Edgard Arevalo.

Sa kabila ng posisyon na ito ng AFP, sinabi rin ng NTF ELCAC Peace, Law Enforcement, Development and Security Cluster Spokesperson na suportado ng AFP, sa ilalim ng liderato ni Chief of Staff GEN Gilbert Gapay, ang anumang mapagdedesisyunan ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
