Iniulat ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang pagdating ng 27,852 kilo ng baboy sa Metro Manila nitong Marso 2 mula sa iba’t ibang rehiyon sa bansa.
Ayon sa kanila, nasa tinatayang 685,846 kilo ng baboy na ang dumating sa Metro Manila. Alinsunod ito sa layunin ng pamahalaan na pababain ang presyo ng baboy at iba pang produktong karne sa NCR.
“The largest number of hog deliveries were transported from Western Visayas, particularly Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental, with a total of 3,155 hogs or 44 percent of the total deliveries today,” saad ng DA sa isang pahayag.
Ang rehiyon ng CALABARZON ay nakapagpadala rin ng 2,086 na baboy mula Rizal, Quezon, at Batangas habang 526 naman ang nanggaling sa Bicol.
Nabanggit din ng ahensya na mayroong 430 baboy mula sa Northern Mindanao ang ipinadala sa isang slaughterhouse sa Muntinlupa.
Ang Central Luzon naman ay nakapagpadala ng 65 na baboy sa slaughterhouses sa Makati at Caloocan bukod pa sa 27,852 kilo ng nakatay na baboy na ipinapadala nito araw-araw bilang dagdag sa daily hog requirement ng Metro Manila.
