Patay ang diumano’y lider ng Espinola Group na sangkot sa drug trafficking at gun-running sa Angeles City at kalapit na lugar nitong Pebrero 5 bandang 2:30 a.m. ng madaling araw.
Nasawi sa barilan si Gerald Espinola alyas “Hapon”, residente ng Hadrian St. Brgy. Balibago, Angeles City, sa joint operation ng Provincial Intelligence Team Pampanga at City Intelligence Team Angeles, kasama ang Angeles City Police Station 2, CIDG CFU Angeles, at Regional Intelligence Division PRO3.
Nagpaputok diumano ang suspek nang hinahainan ng warrant of arrest na inisyu ni Hon. Omar T. Viola, Presiding Judge ng RTC Br. 57 Angeles City, dahil sa paglabag nito sa Sec. 5 Art. II ng RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) na nagresulta sa isang shootout.
Nakuha kay Espinola ang 60 gramo ng hinihinalang shabu na may halagang PhP408,000.00 at isang cal.45 pistol.
Ang operasyon ay follow-up sa nauna nang pag-aresto sa isang miyembro ng Espinola Group na si Vener Nulud nitong Pebrero 1.
Parehong nasa listahan ng most wanted person sa city level ang dalawang suspek. Kasama rin ang dalawa sa recalibrated priority database on illegal drugs (priority 10 HVI) sa regional level.
