KARAGDAGANG 1.5M DOSES NG SINOVAC, DUMATING NA SA BANSA

Malugod na sinalubong nina Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. at Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III ang pagdating sa bansa ng karagdagang 1.5 milyong doses ng Sinovac Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine mula sa Chinese biopharmaceutical company na Sinovac Biotech nitong Biyernes, Mayo 7, 2021.

Lulan ng isang Cebu Pacific flight, dumating sa  Ninoy Aquino International Airport ang naturang panibagong suplay ng bakuna bandang 7:59 ng umaga nitong Biyernes.

Ang nasabing batch ng mga bakuna ay bahagi ng 25 milyong Sinovac o CoronaVac vaccines na binili ng pamahalaan. Sa pinakahuling tala ay nakatanggap na ang bansa ng limang milyong doses ng CoronaVac, at isang milyon dito ay ibinigay bilang donasyon ng bansang China.

Ang CoronaVac ay isa sa tatlong mga bakuna na kasalukuyang bahagi na ng COVID-19 vaccination program ng pamahalaan. Ang dalawa pang COVID-19 vaccines ay gawa ng Gamaleya Research Institute mula Russia, at British-Swedish pharmaceutical company na AstraZeneca.

Inaasahan din ng pamahalaan ang pagdating ng Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines at karagdagang suplay ng AstraZeneca nitong buwan na magmumula sa COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access o COVAX facility, na siyang nagtitiyak ng pantay-pantay na distribusyon ng COVID-19 vaccines sa lahat ng mga bansa.

Simula nang umarangkada ang programa ng pamahalaan sa pagbabakuna kontra COVID-19 noong Marso ay umabot na sa kabuuang 1.8 milyong katao na ang nakatanggap ng kanilang paunang dose ng bakuna. 

Samantala, nasa kabuuang 320,586 na mga Pilipino ang nakatanggap na ng kumpletong doses ng COVID-19 vaccine.
