Iminungkahi ng Department of Health nitong Mayo 5 sa Inter-Agency Task Force na dagdagan ang araw ng quarantine ng mga indibidwal na nais makapasok sa bansa bago isailalim ang mga ito sa COVID-19 testing.

Ayon kay Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, lumabas sa  pag-aaral ng mga eksperto na mas mainam na maghintay ng pito hanggang walong araw bago isalang sa swab test.

“On the 7th and 8th day, nandoon ang pinakamataas na porsyento that a person who might have the disease might turn positive. For us to have accurate test results at ma-isolate natin agad ang may sakit, ito ang ating nirerekomenda ngayon,” paliwanag ni Usec. Vergeire sa isang media briefing.

Sa kasalukuyang protocol, lahat ng mga biyaherong pumasok sa bansa ay kailangang sumailalim ng anim na araw na quarantine bago isalang sa swab test.

Kapag nagnegatibo sa virus, maaaring ituloy ng mga ito ang natitirang araw ng quarantine sa kanilang probinsya o sa quarantine facility.

Kamakailan, inilabas ni Dr. Edsel Salvana ng DOH Technical Advisory Group ang pag-aaral na nagsasaad na 80 porsyento ng mga isinagawang test mula sa ika-walong araw ay lumabas na positibo kumpara sa isinagawa nilang test sa ikalimang araw na mayroong 62 porsyentong positivity rate lamang.
