Inanunsyo ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) kahapon na tiwala itong mapapangalanan na ang mga hacker sa likod ng pag-atake sa mga website ng gobyerno partikular na ang ‘distributed denial of service’ (DDoS) attacks sa mga gov.ph sites.
Ayon kay NBI-Cybercrime Division Chief Victor Lorenzo, sila ay masusing nakikipagtulungan sa Department of Information and Communications Technology upang matukoy ang mga salarin.
“In 2012, there were massive attacks on government websites, and we addressed those by arresting a very notorious hacker at that time kaya nag-subside ‘yung attacks on government websites. This is going to be our approach also,” saad ni Lorenzo sa isang briefing ng Laging Handa kahapon.
Dagdag pa niya, mayroon din umanong mga pag-atake sa mga gov.ph websites noong nakaraang taon. Isa na rito ay ang pagkaka-hack sa online job application system ng Office of the Solicitor General na career.osg.gov.ph noong Disyembre.
“May mga previous attacks in 2020, and we’ve been monitoring their activities. We are confident we will address the issue, and could identify those behind these attacks,” paliwanag niya.
Natukoy na umano ng DICT ang pinagmulan ng mga atake at ang mga detalyeng ito ay nakatakdang ipadala sa NBI. Ayon sa NBI, nanggaling din daw umano sa mga hackers na nagawa nilang i-exfiltrate ang ilang database ngunit hindi pa ito napapatunayan.
“They could easily claim that. Kaya lang minsan nagba-brag lang sila . . . One of the motives in hacking websites or defacing websites or doing these DDoS attacks is for bragging purposes or, of course, plain and simple hacktivism,” sabi ni Lorenzo.
