Nasabat ng BOC-NAIA ang nasa 20,000 undeclared na tableta ng Ivermectin sa isang shipment na galing New Delhi, India at ipinasok ng Finstad Inc. sa ‘Pinas, ayon sa isang pahayag na inilabas ng ahensya nitong Mayo 6.

Nakatago diumano ang mga tableta sa pinakaloob ng shipment at natatakpan ng iba pang regulated drugs na idineklarang “food supplements, multivitamins, and multi-mineral capsules”.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang Ivermectin ay droga na maaaring magamit sa pamamagitan ng compassionate special permit.

Ayon sa FDA, kailangang may maipakitang license to operate bilang drug importer at emergency use authorization o certificate of product registration ang awtorisadong specialized institution na mabibigyan ng permit.

Sinabi ng BOC na layon ng ahensyang mapabilis ang pagproseso ng COVID-19 vaccines, drugs, at iba pang medical supplies ngunit mananatili pa rin itong mapagmatyag kontra smuggling ng unregistered, undeclared, at misdeclared goods na walang clearance at permit sa FDA.
