LUNGSOD NG QUEZON — Nakiusap si Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Francisco F. Gamboa sa mga nagbabalak magprotesta sa darating na State of the Nation Address (SONA) ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Hulyo 27 na gawin na lang ito “online” dahil sa pandemya.
“These are not ordinary times. Nakita ninyo naman in the past SONAs, allowed naman natin iyong protests. But now we have a specific situation, which is itong pandemic,” paliwanag ng hepe ng pulisya sa ginanap na virtual press conference ng PNP noong Hulyo 20.
Siniguro ni PBGEN Gamboa na binabalanse lamang ng PNP ang karapatang makapagpahayag ng mga may planong magprotesta habang ipinatutupad ng kapulisan ang quarantine protocols.
“Alam naman natin na there are prohibitions on mass gathering. But of course, PNP will always respect freedom of expression. So, we hope that everybody will cooperate because it’s not only for our good but also for you and for others,” dagdag pa ng hepe ng PNP.
