Inanunsyo ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque noong Martes, Hunyo 8, na napagpasyahan ng Malacañang na palawigin ang pansamantalang pagpapalapag sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ng international flights na patungo sana sa Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Base sa bagong memorandum na inilabas ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea noong Hunyo 5, magiging epektibo na ang naturang hakbang hanggang 11:59 p.m. ng Hunyo 12.

“Ito po ay para maayos ang pag-iimplement ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) arrival protocols sa Cebu,” paliwanag ng tagapagsalita ng Pangulo tungkol sa bagong memo.

Matatandaang epektibo lamang mula Mayo 29 hanggang Hunyo 5 ang naunang memorandum na inilabas ng Malacañang hinggil sa naturang flight diversion. 

Ang nasabing polisiya ay ayon sa rekomendasyon ng IATF upang mapigilan ang paglaganap ng Coronavirus disease 2019 o COVID.

Ayon kay Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, pinag-aaralan na ng kanilang lokal na pamahalaan ang mga opsyon kaugnay sa naturang pagpapalawig ng flight diversion.

“We will study our position, as duly elected and accountable officials of the Province of Cebu. We all must adhere to the rule of law,” pahayag ng opisyal.

Nauna nang nagpulong sina Garcia at Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte tungkol sa mga alituntunin na ipinatutupad ng probinsya para sa mga Pilipino na manggagaling sa ibang bansa, kabilang na ang pagsusuri sa mga ito pagkarating nila ng airport.
