Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong Lunes, Abril 19, 2021, ang tulong-pinansyal na nagkakahalaga ng P20,000 upang tulungang makabangon mula sa dagok na dulot ng Coronavirus disease 2019 o COVID-19 pandemic ang Employees’ Compensation (EC) pensioners ng bansa.
Ayon sa Social Security System (SSS), ang EC ay isang programang naglalayon na matulungan ang mga manggagawang nagkasakit o naharap sa kapahamakan, tulad ng pagkakaroon ng kapansanan o pagkamatay, bunsod ng kanilang trabaho.
“The adverse effects of the pandemic on the economy, supplementary health necessities for the battle against the virus, and restrictions imposed on our mobility and social interaction, have increased the financial and health burdens experienced by the EC pensioners,” pahayag ng Pangulo sa kanyang inaprubahan Administrative Order 39.
Pinahintulutan ni Pangulong Duterte ang EC Commission na magbigay ng nasabing “one-time financial assistance” sa pensioners na may permanenteng partial o total disability sa mga pampribado at pampublikong sektor.
Ayon pa sa Pangulo, nasa 31,000 pensioners ng SSS at ng Government Service Insurance System ang magbebenepisyo mula sa naturang ayuda. Hindi na rin aniya kinakailangang magdagdag ng kontribusyon ang mga benepisyaryo upang makuha ang naturang tulong-pinansyal.
