Binuweltahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang mga naging pahayag ni Vice President Leni Robredo matapos punahin ang mga isinagawang hakbang ng gobyerno laban sa COVID-19.
“Itong sinasabi ni Leni na kung ‘di gawin ng gobyerno, gagawin ng tao… panahon ito ng pandemic, desperado ang tao… dadagdag kayo, wala naman kayo basehan,” paliwanag ni Pangulong Duterte.
Aniya, “adding fuel to the fire” umano ang mga naging patutsada ng Bise Presidente at hindi mareresolba ang kinakaharap na problema ng bansa kahit mabuwag ang gobyerno o mamatay siya.
Babala ni Pangulong Duterte, “You will just destroy government. Huwag ninyong sirain ang gobyerno kasi masisira ang tao.”
Sa kanyang 20-minute nation address kahapon, nagbigay ng ilang suhestiyon si Robredo kung paano paiigtingin ng pamahalaan ang kanilang istratehiya upang maisalba ang ekonomiya sa recession dulot ng COVID-19.
Pinuna rin ni Robredo ang kawalan umano ng kumpiyansa ng publiko sa administrasyon sa gitna ng pandemya.
“Let me emphasize: Confidence keeps the economy rolling. And the truth is, even before the pandemic, our economy could not reach its full potential because of lack of confidence… This is why, especially now that we are grappling with a pandemic, the last thing that we need is even more instances that erode confidence,” saad ni Bise Presidente Robredo.
Dahil na rin sa kawalan ng kumpiyansang ito kung kaya’t aniya, “Filipinos are willing to man the oars”.
Dinepensahan naman ng Palasyo ang pandemic response ng gobyerno. Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, walang bago sa mga suhestiyon ni Robredo at lahat umano ito ay ipinatutupad na ng pamahalaan.
Sinegundahan din ito ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo at sinabing “theatrical pretenses” lamang umano ang ginawang nation address ni Robredo.
Dagdag pa niya, “It is crystal clear that VP Robredo is trying to undermine the efforts of the government in managing the crisis. She appears to have mastered the art of appearing politically relevant while exhibiting her pretended concern, and succeeding to mislead her supporters and the gullible.”
