PRRD IPINAG-UTOS ANG WITHDRAWAL NG MGA BAKUNANG GAWA NG SINOPHARM

Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kagabi, Mayo 6, ang withdrawal sa COVID-19 vaccines na gawa ng kumpanyang Sinopharm mula China. 

Sa kabila ng pagpapabakuna ng Pangulo ng unang dose mula sa Sinopharm, ipinahayag niya ang kagustuhang i-pull out ang suplay ng bakuna dahil sa isyung hindi pa naglalabas ng clearance ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) para sa emergency use ng brand. 

“Just before this meeting started, I had a talk with the ambassador. Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Ang mga experts nagsabi na, o wala pang ano ito, ‘di pa dumaan ng examination sa atin. Ang binigay lang compassionate use which is really a legal excuse.’ Compassionate use. Ibig sabihin, magamit mo. Compassionate. Kaya lang, maybe it’s not acceptable to them but it’s legal actually,” paliwanag niya sa kanyang public address. 

Hindi pinangalanan ng Pangulo ang ambassador na tinutukoy niya. 

“Sabi ko, ‘Tanggalin mo na lang, you withdraw all Sinopharm vaccines. One thousand of them. Huwag ka nalang magpadala ng Sinopharm dito parang walang gulo,” dagdag niya.

Ayon kay Duterte, may ilang eksperto ang nag-aalala sa mga panganib na maaaring idulot ng Sinopharm sa kalusugan.

“The fact that may konting ano na hindi dumaan, para walang ano, tanggalin na lang natin,” saad ng Pangulo. 

Hindi umano malaking kawalan sa suplay ng bansa ang pagtanggal sa Sinopharm dahil maliit lang ang bilang nito sa kabuuang suplay.

“One thousand vaccines lang ‘yan. It would not make a dent sa supply,” saad niya.

Humingi din ng paumanhin ang Pangulo sa pagpapabakuna ng Sinopharm at tinanggap niya umanong wala pang emergency use authorization mula sa FDA ang brand.

“We are sorry that we committed the things that you are criticizing us for. We accept responsibility. At ako mismo nagpaturok, it’s the decision of my doctor. Anyway it’s my life,” saad niya.
