PRRD ITINAAS ANG MAV NG IMPORTED NA BABOY SA 254,210 METRIC TONS

Pinirmahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang Executive Order (EO) No. 133 kahapon, Mayo 10, na nagtataas ng minimum access volume (MAV) ng imported na baboy upang tugunan ang kakulangan ng suplay nito sa bansa dahil sa epekto ng pagkalat ng African Swine Fever (ASF) at pababain ang presyo ng karneng baboy sa merkado. 

Ang MAV ay tumutukoy sa dami ng isang produktong pang-agrikultura na maaaring angkatin sa bansa na may mas mababang taripa.

Mula sa 54,210 metric tons (MT), itinaas ni Pangulong Duterte ang MAV sa 254,210 MT, mas mababa sa naunang panukala na 404,210 MT. 

“The MAV of pork meat for the MAV Year 2021 of 54,210 [metric tons] is hereby increased to 254,210 MT, provided that any unavailable balance at the end of 2021 shall not be carried over to 2022,” saad ng EO. 

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, ang naturang EO ay magsisilbing kumpromiso sa pagitan ng ehekutibo at lehislatibong sangay ng pamahalaan.

“‘Yan po ay bahagi po ng kumpromiso sa panig ng Ehekutibo at ng Senado ‘no pagdating po dito as usaping MAV,” saad niya sa isang press briefing. 

Noong nakaraang buwan ay gumawa ng resolusyon ang Senate Committee of the Whole na humihiling kay PRRD na bawiin ang EO 128 na nagbababa sa taripa ng imported na baboy dahil maaari umanong malugi ang mga lokal na magbababoy dahil dito. 

Umapela si Pangulong Duterte sa senado na maghintay ng dalawang buwan upang makita ang epekto ng EO 128 sa local hog industry. 

Sa ilalim ng EO 133, inatasan ni PRRD ang MAV Management Committee na tiyakin na ang alokasyon ng volume importation ay patas at bukas sa lahat ng kwalipikadong importer ng karneng baboy. 

Nagdeklara rin si Pangulong Duterte ng state of calamity sa bansa dahil sa ASF outbreak.
