Inanunsyo ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ngayong Huwebes, Abril 15, ang rollout sa buong bansa ng online contact tracing app na StaySafe.ph sa susunod na buwan.
“By next month, iro-rollout na natin ito sa buong Pilipinas. Umpisahan muna natin sa mga kawani ng gobyerno at kami dito sa DILG ay sinubukan na namin yung mag register sa StaySafe. Yung PNP rin ay nag-rollout na rin sila kahapon,” paliwanag ni DILG Officer-in-Charge, Undersecretary Bernardo Florece sa isang virtual press briefing.
Ayon kay Florece, mas mapapadali sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno at medical experts ang pagmomonitor ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa upang siguruhin ang maayos at unified na contact tracing.
“The importance of this is for you to be notified, for instance, when you are close to somebody who tested positive for COVID-19 upon entering a restaurant. Once the QR code is scanned, and you are registered, you will be notified because StaySafe is linked to the COVID-19 repository system of the DOH and it contains information on COVID-19 cases, as well as those who have symptoms or asymptomatic,” paliwanag niya.
Layunin ng ahensyang maikonekta ang 1,634 LGUs sa buong bansa at maabot ang hindi bababa sa 50 milyong users para dito.
Tiniyak din ng DILG sa publikong hindi maaaring gamitin ang app para sa surveillance dahil gagamit ito ng bluetooth technology sa pamamagitan ng Google Apple Exposure Notification System (GAENS) sa halip na GPS.
Ang StaySafe.PH ay dinevelop ng Multisys Technologies Corporation sa pakikipagtulungan nito sa PLDT-Smart Group, PLDT Enterprise, IATF-EID, at National Task Force Against COVID-19 ng bansa.
Anchored on its mantra, “Sentro ng Katotohanan, Tapat sa Mamamayan”, Balita Central Digital complements and supports the Balita Central newspaper published bi-monthly to combat fake news and to provide the public with easy-to-digest news bits that are sourced solely from the Presidency and government agencies.
Balita Central is under the supervision of the Bureau of Communications Services (BCS), one of the attached agencies of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Launched on February 28, 2019 at the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2 (LRT-2) Cubao Station, Quezon City, it also aims to raise awareness among local communities about the policies, programs, and accomplishments of the Presidency.
