Nakiusap si Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa mga kritiko ng gobyerno na huwag bahiran ng pulitika ang donasyong bakuna ng bansang China sa Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Lorenzana, ang mga kritiko ring ito ang mismong nagpapakalat ng kasinungalingan tungkol sa Sinovac vaccine at mariin niyang ipinahayag na sa mga ito na, “Now is not the time to play doomsayer. Now is not the time for games, and most [especially,] now is not the time for politics.”
Dagdag din niya, “This is just the first brand to arrive, among other brands that are scheduled. Don’t politicize the vaccine donation, and use it as a political propaganda. Hindi maganda. It reflects badly on us as a nation.”
Wala rin umanong magandang patutunguhan kung patuloy na hahanapan ng mali ang bakunang gawa ng Sinovac dahil lamang galing ito sa bansang China.
Iginiit din niyang matagal nang tumatanggap ang bansa ng epektibo at abot-kayang anti-rabies, anti-tetanus, at flu vaccine sa Sinovac mula pa noong 2009.
“Ginagalit, tinatakot pa ng iilan ang mga tao sa kinakalat nilang mga fake news. Please stop. Tama na muna ang pulitika. On the other hand, criticizing the vaccine without really knowing the technical facts will only discourage our people from joining the vaccination program,” mariing pahayag ni Sec. Lorenzana.
Wala rin umanong hininging kapalit ang bansang China mula sa ibinigay nitong donasyon sa gobyerno.
Sa kabila nito, hinimok pa rin ni Sec. Lorenzana ang mga kritiko na tumulong na lamang sa gobyerno upang tumaas ang vaccine confidence ng bansa.
“As our government rolls out its vaccination program, let us all work together to make it successful. Let us encourage our people to participate in the program and have themselves vaccinated,” ani Sec. Lorenzana.
