Sinimulan na ng pamahalaan ang pagbabakuna kontra Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) para sa A4 priority group o ang mga tinatawag na economic frontliners noong Lunes, Hunyo 7.

Nagsagawa ang gobyerno ng symbolic vaccination sa isang mall sa Pasay City para sa 50 na mga manggagawa mula sa industriya ng turismo, transportasyon, mass media, food service, at business process outsourcing o BPO.

“The vaccination of those from the A4 sector is significant because they make up the backbone of the economy,” ani Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano sa kaniyang talumpati sa naturang symbolic vaccination.

Kabilang ang TV hosts na sina Iya Villania at Drew Arellano sa mga nakatanggap ng kanilang paunang dose ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa nasabing symbolic vaccination.

“I wanna feel safe, and I wanna contribute to taking that one step towards that [achievement] of herd immunity. That’s why we decided to get vaccinated. I wanna be one with everyone else in being able to give way [to] the life that we had,” pahayag ni Villania.

Bibigyang prayoridad sa pagbabakuna sa A4 category ang mga residente ng National Capital Region (NCR) Plus 8, na kinabibilangan ng Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Batangas, Cebu, at Davao.

Hinimok naman ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mga indibidwal na nabibilang sa A4 na kategorya na magparehistro at magpabakuna kontra COVID-19 sa lalong madaling panahon. Pinaalalahanan din niya ang publiko na patuloy na magsuot ng face masks at face shields at sundin ang social distancing.

“With the start of our mass vaccination, the A4 priority category, our workers in both [the] private and public sector will have an added layer of protection against the disease,” saad ng Pangulo.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, ang mga empleyado sa pormal na sektor ay kinakailangan lamang magpakita ng kanilang office identification cards sa vaccination centers, samantalang ang mga tindero o tindera at mga kasambahay ay maaari namang magpakita ng iba pang patunay na sila ay mga manggagawa.

Inirekomenda naman ng Department of Health na bigyang prayoridad ng mga lokal na pamahalaan ang mga edad 40 hanggang 59 na kabilang sa A4 na kategorya dahil sa mas vulnerable ang mga ito na tamaan ng naturang karamdaman.
